The Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) is the public safety-service and weather spotting arm of amateur radio. Amateur radio operators who join ARES are volunteering their equipment & communications skills and knowledge to assist in times of disaster, weather observation and reporting during watches / warnings.
